Woman charged in fatal Route 206 crash in Morris County
CHESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Brooklyn, NY woman has been charged in connection with a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred in Chester Township on Aug. 31, 2025, according to Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally, and Chester Police Chief Ryan McNamee.
Authorities said Ana-Maria Ciofu, 26, was charged on Nov. 3 with second-degree vehicular homicide and disorderly persons assault by auto. The charges stem from a crash that took place around 5:51 p.m. on Route 206 near the intersection of Lamerson Road and Fox Chase Road.
Investigators allege that Ciofu was driving a 2025 Lexus IS300 northbound at an excessive speed when she struck a 2013 Toyota RAV4. The driver of the RAV4, identified as C.K., was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the collision. A passenger in the Lexus, Lubov Sakovich, was injured.
Ciofu made her first court appearance and was granted pretrial release. A pre-indictment conference is scheduled for Dec. 15 before Superior Court Judge Robert M. Hanna.
The investigation was conducted by the Chester Township Police Department, the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit.
