
Woman dies after ATV overturns into pond in Warren County, police say
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) — A 63-year-old woman died Saturday evening after she overturned while operating an ATV and landed in a pond in Washington Township, according to police.
Washington Township police responded to the area of 5 Morris Canal Trail around 7:16 p.m. for a report of an ATV that had overturned and landed in a pond.
A preliminary investigation determined that the Washington Township woman was operating the ATV when it left the roadway for a reason that has not yet been determined, police said.
Washington Township officers pulled the woman from the water and began CPR. She was pronounced dead at the scene after emergency medical personnel arrived, according to police.
The woman’s name was not released.
The Washington Township Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Washington Township Fire Department, Washington Emergency Squad, Independence Emergency Squad, Hunterdon Medical Center paramedics and Warren County Communications Center.
The Washington Township Detective Bureau also responded to assist with processing the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
