Woman killed in I-287 motorcycle crash in Somerset County

BERNARDS TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Somerset County) — A Wisconsin woman died and a Mississippi man was injured in a motorcycle crash Saturday night on Interstate 287 in Somerset County, according to the New Jersey State Police.

Troopers responded at about 10:19 p.m. to the northbound lanes near milepost 28.4 in Bernards Township, Sgt. Charles Marchan said.

A preliminary investigation found that a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and a Volkswagen passenger car were both traveling north when the motorcycle struck the Volkswagen, Marchan said. After the impact, both vehicles ran off the right side of the road.

The passenger on the motorcycle, identified as Tonya Reetz, 35, of Neshkoro, Wisconsin, was ejected and sustained fatal injuries, police said. The driver of the motorcycle, Tyler George, 36, of Tishomingo, Mississippi, suffered moderate injuries. The driver of the Volkswagen was not hurt.

The crash remains under investigation.
