MORRISTOWN, NJ (Morris County) – A Morristown man was arrested, accused of an assault that sent another man to the hospital early Tuesday morning, according to the Morris County Sheriff’s Office.
On Tuesday, May 14, at 2:25 a.m., the Morris County Sheriff’s Patrol Division was notified that an injured man was allegedly threatened and assaulted following an argument on Patriots Path in Morristown, off Martin Luther King Avenue in Morristown, officials said.
The victim advised the officers that the suspect was still in the area and provided a description, authorities said.
Sheriff’s officers and Morristown police located the suspect, who was later identified as Ricardo Martinez-Bonilla, sleeping on the trail, the sheriff’s office said.
The victim was transported to Morristown Medical Center for his injuries, officials said.
Martinez-Bonilla was charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, terroristic threats, unlawful possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose and possession of a weapon. He was then lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility.
“Due to the swift action and diligent police work of our patrol officers, it adverted any future potential victims,” Morris County Sheriff James Gannon said.
