BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. — Skeletal remains discovered in a tributary of Back River in Baltimore County have been positively identified as those of a Warren County woman who had been missing for nearly a month, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.
Police announced Thursday that the remains found July 17 were identified as Kimberly Gordon, 46, of Lopatcong Township.
At approximately 11:25 a.m. July 17, officers responded to the area near the interchange of Maryland Route 702 and Interstate 695 after receiving a report of possible human remains. Upon arrival, officers located skeletal remains in a nearby creek bed within a tributary of Back River, police said.
When the remains were discovered, Baltimore County Police Homicide detectives began investigating whether they belonged to Gordon, who had been reported missing by the Lopatcong Township Police Department after she was last seen at approximately 2 p.m. June 21 behind Sky Zone, located at 8645 Pulaski Highway in Baltimore County.
Investigators previously said Gordon was driving a white 2024 Hyundai Elantra displaying a wide-load sign and stickers bearing her name and phone number on the side windows. Police believed she may have been involved in a motor vehicle crash that day and could have sustained a head injury. Her vehicle was later recovered.
The Lopatcong Township Police Department coordinated with Baltimore County police during the investigation.
Baltimore County police did not release additional information about the circumstances surrounding Gordon’s death. The investigation remains ongoing.
