1 dead after fiery crash on I-80 in Warren County, state police say

HOPE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – A 19-year-old man is dead following a fiery crash on Interstate 80 in Hope Township Sunday night, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Jeffrey Lebron.

The single-vehicle crash occurred around 8:21 p.m. on Interstate 80 westbound at milepost 11.3, Lebron said.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Carmine Argenziano, 19, of Bogota, was driving a Hyundai SUV westbound on I-80 when, near milepost 11.3, the vehicle veered off the right side of the roadway, struck multiple trees, and caught fire, Lebron said.

As a result of the crash, Argenziano sustained fatal injuries, Lebron said.

The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information is available at this time.
