2 arrested for allegedly stealing tires from Morris County business

BUTLER, NJ (Morris County) – Two Essex County men were arrested for allegedly stealing tires from a Butler business.

On Oct. 7, at around 1:17 a.m., an officer was conducting a routine business check when he observed two men loading used tires into a small white box truck at the ETD Discount Tire Center on Route 23 South, police said.

The men, identified as Eduardo Rosales, 36, of Newark, and Abel Rodriguez, 32, of Bloomfield, were seen taking tires from a locked, fenced-in area of the business. After a thorough investigation, police determined that Rosales had entered the secured area and thrown the tires to Rodriguez, who then loaded them into the truck, authorities said.

Upon running a warrant check on both individuals, police discovered that Rosales had an outstanding warrant from Middlesex County for unpaid child support. The store manager was contacted and confirmed that neither man had permission to take the tires, officials said.

Rosales and Rodriguez were arrested and charged with burglary and theft, police said.

Rosales was subsequently turned over to the custody of the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office due to the outstanding warrant, while Rodriguez was released pending a court appearance, police said.
