JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — Two drivers were charged with driving while intoxicated in separate incidents that occurred within a short time of each other in Jefferson Township, according to police.
At about 2:39 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, Jefferson Township police observed a vehicle traveling north in the southbound lane of Route 15, police said.
Police stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Lukasz Solpa, 31, of Sparta Township. Following an investigation, police determined Solpa was allegedly operating the vehicle under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.
Solpa was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and other motor vehicle offenses. He was released to a family member.
While police were assisting with that arrest, an officer heard what appeared to be a motor vehicle crash in the parking lot of Club 15, located at 619 Route 15 South in the Lake Hopatcong section of the township.
Police investigated and found that a driver had struck a parked vehicle in the parking lot. The driver was identified as John Doherty, 57, of Mine Hill.
After conducting field sobriety tests, police arrested Doherty and charged him with driving while intoxicated and other motor vehicle offenses. He was released to a family member.
