2 injured after crash involving tractor-trailer, car on I-287 in Somerset County
BRIDGEWATER TOWNSHIP, NJ (Somerset County) – Two people were injured in a crash involving a tractor-trailer and a car on Interstate 287 in Somerset County on Friday morning, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Jeffrey Lebron.
The crash occurred around 5:59 a.m. on the south express lanes of I-287 at milepost 20.6 in Bridgewater Township, Lebron said.
A preliminary investigation revealed that an Acura passenger vehicle and a tractor-trailer were traveling southbound on I-287 from the I-78 west ramp. Near milepost 20.6, the driver of the Acura lost control, veered off the roadway, struck the guardrail, reentered the roadway, and collided with the tractor-trailer. The impact caused the tractor-trailer to veer off the road, go up an embankment, and overturn, Lebron said.
Both drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital, Lebron said.
The crash remains under investigation, Lebron added.
