2 injured, including 1 seriously, following 3-vehicle crash on I-78 in Somerset County

BEDMINSTER TOWNSHIP, NJ (Somerset County) – Two people were injured, including one seriously, following a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 78 in Somerset County on Thursday afternoon, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Trooper Troy McNair.

The crash happened at around 12:49 p.m. on Interstate 78 westbound at milepost 27.2 in Bedminster Township, McNair said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that a Honda passenger vehicle, driven by a 24-year-old man from Slingerlands NY, a Kenworth Trailer, and a Nissan passenger vehicle were traveling westbound on I-78 when the Honda, the Kenworth Trailer, and the Nissan collided when one vehicle attempted to change lanes, McNair said.

As a result of the crash, the driver of the Honda suffered moderate injuries and his passenger, an 18-year-old female from Slingerlands NY, suffered serious injuries. Both were transported to an area hospital, McNair said.

The crash remains under investigation and no additional information was available, McNair said.
