2 NJ Army National Guard soldiers injured in Morris County crash

ROCKAWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – Two members of the New Jersey Army National Guard were injured after crashing Thursday afternoon, according to Picatinny Arsenal Public Affairs.

The crash happened at around 3:00 p.m. on Lake Denmark Road in Rockaway Township, officials said.

Two members of the New Jersey National Guard 143rd Transportation Company, 42d Regional Support Group, were travelling in a National Army Guard Vehicle when they crashed, authorities said.

Both were transported to area hospitals, officials said.

“Our Soldiers have been released from the hospital and we continue to monitor their condition. Their training was paramount in avoiding what could have been a much worse incident,” Lt.Col. Anthony Salvani, 117th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion commander told RNJ. “We also thank the personnel of Picatinny Arsenal and local first responders for their accident response and ensuring the safety of all service members and civilians in the area.”

The crash remains under investigation by the Picatinny Police Department and the Rockaway Township Police Department.
