45 animals removed from Hunterdon County home amid animal cruelty investigation

ANNANDALE, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Authorities removed 45 animals from a residence in Annandale this week as part of an ongoing animal cruelty investigation, the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office said.

A search warrant was executed Aug. 18 at a home on Sidney Road, where investigators found 37 cats and eight dogs, officials said. Seven of the animals were transported for immediate veterinary care at Crown Veterinary Specialists.

The operation involved the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office, Franklin Township Police Department, Hunterdon County Health Department, Hunterdon County Haz-Mat, and several animal welfare organizations, including Animal Services of Independence, Animal Control Solutions, Animal Alliance, Outcast Rescue, Tabby’s Place, and Somerset Regional Animal Shelter. South Branch Emergency Services also assisted.

The investigation is ongoing. Authorities urged anyone with information to contact the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office at 908-788-1129, the Franklin Township Police Department at 908-785-9594, or the Hunterdon County Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 1-800-321-0010.
