Morris County seeks applicants for County College of Morris board of trustees

RANDOLPH TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — Morris County residents interested in serving on the County College of Morris (CCM) Board of Trustees have until Sept. 5, 2025, to submit resumes to a special Trustee Search Committee of the Morris County Board of County Commissioners.

The county is seeking to fill two four-year terms beginning Nov. 1, 2025, and ending Oct. 31, 2029. The search committee will review all applications before recommending candidates to the county commissioners, who will make the appointments.

To qualify, candidates must be Morris County residents for at least four years, may not hold an elected office in the county, and cannot be employed by Morris County government or CCM. The two current trustees seeking reappointment must also apply by the deadline.

Applicants should demonstrate independent judgment, professional distinction, knowledge of higher education, community involvement, and a strong commitment to serving the college. Trustees are expected to dedicate at least 20–30 hours per month to their duties, which include appointing and evaluating the college president, approving educational programs, ensuring fiscal stability, and maintaining the college’s facilities.

Resumes and a brief background statement explaining why the applicant wishes to serve and what skills they would bring to the board must be submitted by email to dlynch@co.morris.nj.us at the Office of the Morris County Counsel by 4 p.m. Sept. 5.

The CCM Board of Trustees consists of 11 Morris County residents from various professional backgrounds who serve without pay. Eight members are appointed by the county commissioners, two by the governor, and the Morris County superintendent of schools serves by statute. The CCM president is an ex-officio member, and a non-voting graduate trustee is elected annually by the graduating class.
