Driver, pedestrian hospitalized after crash on Route 15 in Sussex County

LAFAYETTE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – The driver of a car and a pedestrian are hospitalized following a car crash Wednesday night in Sussex County, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Jeffrey Lebron.

The crash happened at around 11:55 p.m. on Route 15 southbound at milepost 17.2 in Lafayette Township, Lebron said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that a BMW passenger vehicle, driven by a 17-year-old boy from Sparta Township, was traveling south on Route 15 when the BMW veered off the right side of the roadway, struck Stephanie Moore, 43, of Lafayette Township, a sign, and then a tree, Lebron said.

As a result of the crash, Moore sustained moderate injuries and was transported to an area hospital. The driver sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital, Lebron said.

The crash remains under investigation and no additional information available, Lebron said.
