5 charged after physical altercation in parking lot of Sussex County smoke shop

BYRAM TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – Five individuals have been charged following a physical altercation in the parking lot of Sweat Dreams Smoke Shop in Byram Township last month, according to police.

On Nov. 23, at around 10:47 a.m., police responded to Sweat Dreams Smoke Shop, located at 21 Route 206, for a reported fight in progress. Upon arrival, officers found that the individuals involved had dispersed, police said.

According to the police investigation, the incident began when a customer disputed a sale with the smoke shop staff. The disagreement escalated into a physical altercation in the plaza parking lot.

The following individuals were charged in connection with the alleged altercation: Joseph Thomas, 26, of Mount Olive Township; Eugene Decastro, 53, of Mount Olive Township; Pedro A. Valentin, 26, of Fallsburg, NY; and Marcus Murillo, 25, of Netcong Borough, were each charged with disorderly conduct and simple assault. Additionally, Richard M. Perez, 24, of Newark, was charged with disorderly conduct.

All were released pending a court appearance.
