70-year-old woman charged in $9K bank fraud case in Morris County

DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A 70-year-old New York woman has been charged in a $9,000 bank fraud case in Denville Township, police announced Monday.

On February 26, 2025, Denville Police responded to Provident Bank on Broadway following a report of fraudulent activity, police said.

Officers learned that an individual had allegedly used a fraudulent identification card to unlawfully withdraw $9,000 from the bank, police said.

An investigation was launched to identify and locate the suspect. As a result of those efforts, Diane Crial, 70, of Amsterdam, New York, was identified as the alleged individual responsible for the fraudulent transaction, police said.

Crial was later apprehended in Amsterdam, NY, where she subsequently waived extradition. She was transported to the Denville Township Police Department and charged with theft by deception, wrongful impersonation, and exhibiting false documents, police said.

Crial was lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility, where she remains in custody pending a future court appearance, police said.
