89-year-old passenger killed in Somerset County crash on Route 22

BRIDGEWATER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Somerset County) — An 89-year-old woman was killed and another person injured in a two-vehicle crash on Route 22 West on Monday, according to the Bridgewater Township Police Department.

The crash occurred at approximately 3:20 p.m. near the Bridgewater Acura dealership at 1231 Route 22 West. A 2009 Hyundai Sonata, driven by Won Park, 90, of Somerville, was traveling westbound in the center lane when it drifted to the right shoulder and struck a disabled 2009 Chevrolet shuttle bus parked on the shoulder.

The front-seat passenger of the Hyundai, Jung Bang, 89, of Somerville, was pronounced dead at the scene. Park sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Morristown Medical Center for treatment.

The Bridgewater Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Bureau is continuing to investigate the crash.
