Hunterdon County Commissioners recognize non-profit ‘In Love And Song’ with proclamations

“In Love And Song Mission: Creating A Community Stronger Than Any Brain Tumor”

HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ – The Hunterdon County Commissioners recently honored Executive Director, Deborah Rizzo, founder of the non-profit, “In Love And Song” (ILAS), for her dedication to providing resources and support for brain tumor patients and survivors.

Also recognized at the meeting was local high school student, Jaime Myers, a vocal student of Ms. Rizzo’s and organizer of a recent fundraiser for ILAS known as, “The Quarter Mile Project”.

Director Jeff Kuhl presented both Ms. Rizzo and Ms. Myers with proclamations and said, “Our Board is proud to present these proclamations this evening recognizing the commitment and devotion of In Love And Song to provide resources and education for cancer patients and survivors, specifically those diagnosed with brain tumors. Ms. Rizzo and Ms. Myers are to be commended for their support and kindness for these patients
and their families.”

In Love And Song is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that was established in 2023 to provide resources, education, and inclusive events for brain tumor patients, survivors, and those affected by brain tumor diagnosis. ILAS promotes the use of music, recognizing the powerful and profound impact that music therapy has during challenging times for cancer patients.

On Friday, June 28, Deputy Director Susan Soloway attended the ILAS fundraiser, ‘The Quarter Mile Project’, a campaign initiated by Jaime Myers, who lost a cousin to a brain tumor. The goal of the fundraiser was to collect 15,480 quarters to stretch ¼ mile and raise $3960.00 towards the purchase of a service animal for a brain tumor patient.

“I want to thank both Deb and Jaime for their hard work in organizing tonight’s fundraiser. These women are emblematic of the wonderful people across our county who I have the opportunity to meet with daily as a County Commissioner. We are all very fortunate to live in such a caring place and I know you are well on your way to raising enough money for that service animal. I hope everyone enjoys the evening,” Soloway said.

The Quarter Mile Project was a free evening of entertainment, held at Lebanon Township Memorial Park and included, Disney and Taylor Swift sing-alongs, various open mic performances, food trucks, and merchandise sales.
