2 men arrested after gunpoint robbery at Sussex County motel

BRANCHVILLE BOROUGH, NJ (Sussex County) – Two Pennsylvania men were arrested after a gunpoint robbery in Sussex County.

On August 10, at around 5:30 a.m., three masked men entered a room at the Cobmin Ridge Motel on Route 206 in Branchville Borough and robbed the occupants at gunpoint. The victims reported the crime to the New Jersey State Police later that day, authorities said.

A joint investigation by the New Jersey State Police Troop “B” Sussex Station and the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office led detectives to Allentown, Pennsylvania in pursuit of the suspects, officials said.

On August 13, with the assistance of the Allentown Police Department and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office, Vincent Cruz, 34, and Osnil Valdez, 32, both of Allentown were charged with robbery and firearms-related offenses in connection with the incident, authorities said.

Both are currently pending extradition to New Jersey, officials said.

The New Jersey State Police and Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office are conducting an ongoing investigation.
