Hunterdon County Deputy Director Soloway joins with parks department for launch of HOPE 2 program

HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ – The Hunterdon County Parks and Recreation Department recently launched the HOPE 2 (Hunterdon Outdoor Park Exploration) program with an introductory hike led by Deputy Director Susan Soloway, along with Parks personnel Laura Tarlowski and Liz Braidwood-Fulmer.

The hike began at the Hunterdon County Arboretum and provided a sneak peek into the engaging and educational experiences awaiting participants looking to explore the natural beauty of county parks.

“I am excited to see so many residents and their families here for the HOPE 2 introductory hike! Building on the success of the original HOPE Program, HOPE 2 is a wonderful opportunity for participants to connect with nature, learn about our local parks, and enjoy the great outdoors,” Soloway said.

HOPE 2 is an interactive and educational scavenger hunt experience that invites participants to follow a guide booklet through fourteen parks in Hunterdon County. This second publication encourages participants to engage in a self-guided, self-paced program filled with fun and challenging activities. Each park visit in the HOPE 2 booklet includes challenges, meditation prompts, educational information about nature, and interesting facts about the parks.

As participants complete the various park activities, they will document their experiences in the booklet. Upon completion of the program, participants will receive a HOPE token coin as a symbol of their accomplishment and commitment to outdoor exploration. Prior to the hike, Commissioner Soloway had the honor of presenting a coin to David Somers, the first resident to complete the entire HOPE 2 program.

“HOPE 2 is more than just a program; it is an invitation to reconnect with our natural surroundings and with each other. By exploring our parks, residents can experience the tranquility and beauty that Hunterdon County has to offer,” Soloway said.
