NJ-bound traffic detour at Easton-Phillipsburg ‘free bridge’ for overnight utility work starting March 24

PHILLIPSBURG, NJ (Warren County) – Starting Monday, March 24, New Jersey-bound motorists will be unable to cross the Easton-Phillipsburg “free bridge” during overnight hours — from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. — due to a utility project. This restriction will continue on weeknights for up to one week.

The travel restriction is necessary for an Elizabethtown Gas contractor, Skoda Construction, to replace aging gas mains and connections on the Phillipsburg side of the bridge. This is not a commission project.

New Jersey-bound motorists are advised to use the nearby Easton-Phillipsburg (Route 22) Toll Bridge to cross into Phillipsburg.

Pennsylvania traffic is expected to continue using the Northampton Street Bridge while utility work takes place.
