
Juvenile severely injured in crash involving car, dirt bike in Hunterdon County
RARITAN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – An investigation is underway after a juvenile was severely injured in a crash in Raritan Township on Saturday night, according to police.
The crash occurred at approximately 10:24 p.m. in the area of Dayton Road and Sergeantsville Road, police said.
Upon officers’ arrival, they observed that the crash involved a Honda Accord and a dirt bike. The rider of the dirt bike, a juvenile male from Flemington, appeared to have suffered severe injuries to both legs and his pelvis. The driver of the Accord, a 73-year-old male from Flemington, did not suffer any apparent injuries, police said.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the Accord was traveling southbound on Sergeantsville Road and attempting to make a left turn onto Dayton Road, while the dirt bike was traveling northbound on Sergeantsville Road, heading toward Route 12, police said.
Due to the extent of the juvenile’s injuries, he was flown to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest Trauma Center, police said.
The Raritan Township Detective Bureau, along with the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office’s Fatal Accident Collision Team, responded to the scene to assist in the investigation. The Raritan Township Police Department, along with the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office, will be investigating the exact cause(s) of the crash.
