Dog’s remains found in dog food bag on I-287 in Somerset County; state police seek information
BERNARDS TOWNSHIP, NJ (Somerset County) – The New Jersey State Police is seeking the public’s assistance in an animal cruelty investigation that occurred on I-287 North, near milepost 25 in Bernards Township.
On April 16, at approximately 10:00 a.m., troopers responded to a report of a suspicious package located on the right shoulder of Interstate 287, state police said.
Upon arrival, troopers discovered a large green “Retriever” brand dog food bag containing the remains of a deceased black canine. Detectives believe the bag was discarded sometime between 10:00 p.m. on April 15 and 10:00 a.m. on April 16, state police said.
