1 airlifted following fiery 3-vehicle crash on I-78 in Somerset County

BEDMINSTER TOWNSHIP, NJ (Somerset County) – One person was airlifted to the hospital following a fiery three-vehicle crash on I-78 in Somerset County Thursday evening, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Jeffrey Lebron.

The crash occurred at around 6:36 p.m. on I-78 westbound at milepost 31.4 in Bedminster Township, Lebron said.

Based on a preliminary investigation, a collision took place involving a Honda CR-V, a BMW 540, and a Kia Forte, causing the Honda to overturn and the Kia to become fully engulfed in flames, Lebron said.

The driver of the Honda was airlifted to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Lebron said.

The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information was immediately available, Lebron added.
