Man accused of inhaling chemicals in Morris County Walmart parking lot charged with DWI, other offenses
MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Succasunna man was arrested Thursday afternoon after police found him unresponsive in a vehicle with several aerosol cans at a Walmart parking lot in the Flanders section of Mount Olive Township, authorities said.
According to police, an officer responded to the Walmart at 40 International Drive South around 4:09 p.m. on June 26 for a report of a man inhaling chemicals inside a car.
When the officer arrived, Neil H. Perry, 37, was allegedly found slumped over the steering wheel of a silver Honda with a can of electronic duster in his hand. Several additional aerosol chemical cans were observed on the passenger seat and floor, police said.
The officer was able to wake Perry and had him exit the vehicle for field sobriety testing. Perry was subsequently arrested and transported to police headquarters.
He was charged with use of toxic chemicals, possession of toxic chemicals, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while intoxicated, and reckless driving. Perry was later released to a sober driver pending a court hearing.
