Phillipsburg police investigating overnight shooting, recovered stolen vehicle and handgun

PHILLIPSBURG, N.J. (Warren County) — Police are investigating a shooting that occurred early Monday morning near Mercer Street and River Street, where officers discovered evidence of gunfire and recovered a stolen vehicle and handgun.

Patrol units were dispatched to the area at approximately 1:49 a.m. on June 30 following a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers confirmed that a shooting had taken place. While no injuries were reported, property damage was found at the scene.

Further investigation revealed that three males fled the area on foot. Officers also recovered a stolen vehicle registered out of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, along with a handgun.

The Phillipsburg Police Department is asking residents for assistance in the ongoing investigation. Anyone with information or surveillance footage related to the incident is urged to contact Detective Caffarelli at (908) 835-2002. Tips may be submitted anonymously.
