Parenting workshops offered in-person and online by Project Self-Sufficiency
NEWTON, N.J. (Sussex County) — Project Self-Sufficiency is inviting parents, caregivers, and educators to attend free parenting workshops and discussion groups this summer, with sessions available both in person and online. The sessions aim to equip participants with strategies to raise confident children and effectively manage misbehavior.
The initiative utilizes the Triple P Positive Parenting Program, a comprehensive educational approach that addresses parenting goals, behavioral challenges, and child development. Courses are tailored for those raising infants, toddlers, and school-aged children.
A Positive Parenting Course will be held at 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on August 7, 14, 21, and 28, and again on September 2, 9, 16, and 23. Sessions will be held at Project Self-Sufficiency in Newton and simultaneously streamed via Zoom. In-person participants will be provided with pizza and childcare.
Course topics include:
- Positive parenting
- Helping children develop
- Managing misbehavior
- Planning ahead
Parents in need of additional support can schedule personalized one-on-one coaching with experienced educators. Triple P coursework is also available on demand for those unable to attend live sessions.
“These programs will give parents, caregivers, and educators simple and practical strategies to help build strong, healthy relationships, confidently manage children’s behavior, and reduce stress,” said Project Self-Sufficiency Executive Director Deborah Berry-Toon.
Gift card incentives are offered for participation. To register or learn more, call 973-940-3500 or visit projectselfsufficiency.org/parenting-classes.
