Man charged with theft after items reported stolen from Morris County home
MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A 32-year-old Essex County man has been charged after allegedly stealing cash and valuables from a Mount Olive Township home while on the property for contracted work, according to police.
Officers responded to a residence on Elizabeth Lane on July 8 at approximately 4:36 p.m. for a report of a dispute. Upon arrival, the homeowner told officers he had observed two men on the property and later noticed that items were missing from the home.
An investigation revealed that the two men had been hired by a third party to work on the exterior of the house. However, one of the men allegedly entered the residence without permission and removed cash and valuables, hiding them in a Ford van he had driven to the location.
A consent search of the van uncovered cash, jewelry, and a watch, police said.
The man found in possession of the stolen items was identified as Yandri Cordovarosales, 32, of Newark. He was charged with theft of movable property and possession of stolen property. Cordovarosales was released pending a court appearance.
