Firefighters extinguish basement fire at Castlegate Restaurant and Golf in Lopatcong Township

LOPATCONG TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) — Fire crews responded to Castlegate Restaurant and Golf on Saturday afternoon after smoke was reported in the basement, according to Lopatcong Township Police Chief Jason Garcia.

A 911 call came in at approximately 12:04 p.m. reporting smoke in the basement of the business, located at 67 Route 57 West.

Police and firefighters arrived shortly afterward, and fire crews quickly extinguished the source of the smoke, Garcia said.

All occupants had evacuated the building before emergency crews arrived.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation but does not appear to be suspicious, according to Garcia.

All responding emergency crews cleared the scene by 1:25 p.m.
