Two minor earthquakes reported in Morris County; no damage reported

MORRIS COUNTY, N.J. — Two small earthquakes were recorded in Morris County on Monday, July 21, according to the U.S. Geological Survey, though no damage or injuries have been reported.

The first quake, a magnitude 1.6, occurred at 5:40 a.m. approximately 1.9 miles west of Morris Plains Borough at a depth of about 3.1 miles.

Later in the day, a second magnitude 1.3 quake was detected at 2:26 p.m. roughly 1.2 miles south of Randolph Township, also at a depth of about 3.1 miles.

Local officials have not reported any structural damage or impacts.
