Sussex County Community College receives $10K FirstEnergy Foundation grant for electrical lineworker training
NEWTON, N.J. (Sussex County) — Sussex County Community College has received a $10,000 grant from the FirstEnergy Foundation to support its Electrical Lineworker Program, the school announced.
The funding will be used to purchase climbing gear for students enrolled in the hands-on training course, ensuring they can learn in a safe, realistic environment that mirrors industry standards.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support from the FirstEnergy Foundation,” said Stan Kula, SCCC’s executive director. “Their investment in our students not only helps build a strong, skilled workforce, but also shows a true dedication to safety and economic development in our community.”
The program prepares students for careers in the utility industry, providing the knowledge and practical skills needed for high-demand roles that help maintain essential services.
The FirstEnergy Foundation said the grant reflects its commitment to safety, workforce development, and economic growth across the region.
