Powerball jackpot climbs to $1.1 billion for Labor Day drawing
Powerball players will have another shot at a billion-dollar prize before the Labor Day weekend ends, after no ticket matched all six numbers in Saturday night’s drawing.
The jackpot has now risen to an estimated $1.1 billion for Monday night’s drawing, making it the fifth-largest prize in the game’s history. The cash option is estimated at $498.4 million.
“America has waited all year for the chance to play for a billion-dollar jackpot, and what better time than Labor Day for a $1.1 billion Powerball drawing!” said Matt Strawn, Powerball Product Group Chair and Iowa Lottery CEO. “With just one $2 ticket, you could win it all – all while helping to support good causes close to home.”
Saturday’s winning numbers were white balls 3, 18, 22, 27, 33 and red Powerball 17. The Power Play multiplier was 3.
Although the jackpot rolled, several players won big. Nine tickets matched all five white balls to win $1 million each, sold in California (4), Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania. Three others, sold in Colorado, Indiana and New Hampshire, added the Power Play option, boosting their prize to $2 million.
There were also 115 tickets worth $50,000 and 27 tickets worth $150,000.
Monday’s drawing will mark the 40th since the jackpot was last won in California on May 31. The longest jackpot run remains 42 drawings, set in April 2024, when a $1.326 billion ticket was sold in Oregon.
If a player wins, they can choose between the annuitized $1.1 billion, paid in 30 annual payments, or the $498.4 million lump sum, both before taxes.
Powerball tickets are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET and are broadcast live from Florida Lottery’s studio in Tallahassee, as well as streamed at Powerball.com.
The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
