Man arrested after reports of suspicious activity in Morris County neighborhood

CHESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — Police arrested a man Thursday morning after receiving reports of suspicious activity involving an individual pulling on vehicle door handles along Pleasant Hill Road near Prides Crossing in Chester Township, according to police.

Authorities said they received two calls around 10:30 a.m. regarding an adult male seen attempting to open car doors in the area. Responding officers located the individual, who was arrested for a separate offense, police said.

Residents in the area are being asked to check their homes, vehicles, and security cameras to ensure that no successful burglaries occurred earlier in the day. Anyone who notices suspicious activity related to the incident is urged to call the department’s non-emergency line at 908-879-5514, ext. 0, to have an officer dispatched.

Police also reminded the public to call 911 immediately if suspicious activity is seen in progress.

“We thank our attentive neighbors for helping us keep our town safe,” the department said in a statement.
