
Fire crews extinguish commercial blaze on Route 27 in Somerset County; no injuries reported
FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Somerset County) — A commercial building on Route 27 was heavily damaged early Thursday morning after a fire broke out, prompting a multi-agency emergency response, according to Acting Public Safety Director Lloyd Fredericks.
The Franklin Township Police Department responded to the business, located at 2045 Route 27, at 1:50 a.m. on Nov. 13 after receiving a report of a fire. Officers arrived to find visible flames and smoke coming from the structure.
Firefighters from Somerset Fire Rescue, Little Rocky Hill, Griggstown, Middlebush, Franklin Park and North Brunswick fire companies worked to extinguish the blaze. The North Brunswick Police Department, Robert Wood EMS and PSE&G also responded to assist at the scene.
No injuries were reported to civilians or emergency personnel.
Route 27 was closed between Schmidt Lane and Hidden Lake Drive for about 1.5 hours while fire crews worked to control and extinguish the fire, officials said.
