One driver injured after multi-vehicle crash on I-80 in Warren County

HARDWICK TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) —A multi-vehicle crash involving two cars and two tractor-trailers on Interstate 80 eastbound in Hardwick Township on Monday night injured one driver, according to the Knowlton Township Fire and Rescue Company.

Fire officials said crews were dispatched around 7:23 p.m. to I-80 east near the 0.9-mile marker for a report of a crash with possible entrapment. Responders found two cars and two tractor-trailers involved, including one car with heavy front-end damage after striking at least one of the trucks.

One driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries, fire officials said. Crews used a rescue saw to remove a piece of one trailer during the operation.

Eastbound traffic was diverted onto a service road, but many motorists were stopped for nearly an hour until the vehicles were cleared.

Crews cleared the scene and returned to the station around 9:30 p.m. The New Jersey State Police Hope Barracks assisted at the scene.
