Hunterdon County to hold virtual public hearing on senior and disabled transportation plan for FY 2026

FLEMINGTON, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — The Hunterdon County Department of Human Services will hold a virtual public hearing on Friday, August 22, at 10:00 a.m. to gather community input on its Fiscal Year 2026 funding plan for transportation services provided under the Senior Citizen and Disabled Residents Transportation Assistance Program, commonly referred to as the Casino Revenue program.

Administered by NJ TRANSIT, the program supports critical transportation services for senior citizens and individuals with disabilities. Hunterdon County’s proposed plan calls for the allocation of $856,452 to operate services through the County’s Consolidated Transportation System, known as The LINK.

Deputy Director Shaun C. Van Doren, who also serves as liaison to the Department of Human Services, emphasized the need for community involvement in the planning process. “Reliable transportation is a vital service that helps our senior and disabled residents maintain independence and stay connected to their community,” Van Doren said. “We encourage community members to join the public hearing and share their thoughts as we plan for the upcoming year’s transportation needs.”

The hearing will be held virtually via Microsoft Teams. Residents, advocates, and interested parties are encouraged to participate and offer feedback. The public may also review the FY 2026 SCDRTAP plan beginning Friday, August 1, on The LINK’s website at www.ridethelink.com.

To participate, members of the public can access the Microsoft Teams meeting using the Meeting ID 269 346 996 999 and Passcode T6Wt9Cj2. Phone access is available by calling +1 856-338-7012 and entering Phone Conference ID 633 962 250#.
