Idaho man charged in Morris County with child sex abuse material production, sexual assault
WHARTON BOROUGH, N.J. (Morris County) – An Idaho man has been arrested in connection with the alleged production of child sex abuse material and sexual assault, authorities said.
Gregory Williams, 40, has been charged with first-degree production of CSAM, second-degree sexual assault, third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and third-degree obscenity.
The investigation began in July 2025 when it was reported to law enforcement that a 14-year-old female in New Jersey began chatting with who she believed was another 16-year-old, but was allegedly Gregory Williams.
Williams allegedly asked the victim multiple times to send nude photographs, which she provided, and sent images of adult pornography to the child, authorities said. The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, along with the Wharton Police Department and the FBI, conducted additional investigation. Williams was living in Idaho at the time of the alleged incidents and is pending extradition to New Jersey for prosecution.
Williams has also been charged by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Idaho with transfer of obscene material to a minor and sexual exploitation of children. He is awaiting a detention hearing in federal court.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll acknowledged the Wharton Police Department, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office ICAC Task Force and the FBI for their efforts in the investigation.
