Route 206 northbound lane closures in Byram Township extended through Feb. 2 for gas main work
BYRAM TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Sussex County) — Lane closures on Route 206 northbound at Brookwood Road in Byram Township have been extended through Feb. 2, 2026, as crews continue priority gas main installation work, state officials said.
The right lane of Route 206 northbound at Brookwood Road, near the shopping center at milepost 99.35, has been closed since Nov. 10. Access to the shopping center will continue to be maintained throughout the construction period.
In addition, beginning at 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, through 5 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, and continuing Monday through Saturday nights through Feb. 2, the left lane of Route 206 northbound is scheduled to be closed at Brookwood Road. During overnight hours, traffic will be shifted onto Route 206 southbound, with one lane maintained in each direction.
Officials said the closures are necessary because the gas main installation is taking longer than anticipated. Motorists traveling through the area are advised to slow down, use caution, and expect delays while work continues.
The project is being conducted by New Jersey Natural Gas Company. For additional information, motorists may call 1-800-221-0051.
Work schedules are subject to change due to weather or other conditions. Drivers are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website at www.511nj.org for updates and real-time travel information.
