WARREN COUNTY, N.J. — Warren County Sheriff James McDonald is warning residents about a jury duty scam in which callers falsely claim a warrant has been issued for missing jury service.
According to the sheriff’s office, scammers have been contacting individuals and posing as law enforcement, telling victims they face arrest for failing to appear for jury duty unless they make an immediate payment or provide personal information.
Officials stressed that the Warren County Sheriff’s Office will never call, text or email residents to demand money, threaten arrest, or request personal or financial information related to jury service or warrants.
Residents who receive such calls or messages are advised to hang up immediately, not to share any personal or financial details, and to report the incident to local law enforcement or directly to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.
