Man charged after road rage fight at Morris County gas station
DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A 33-year-old Philadelphia man was charged with disorderly conduct after a road rage altercation escalated into a fight at a Route 10 gas station in Denville Township, police said.
Denville police responded Feb. 26 to the Exxon station at 3144 Route 10 West for a report of two men fighting in the parking lot.
Officers located and identified both individuals upon arrival. An investigation determined the confrontation stemmed from a road rage incident, authorities said.
Police allege that one of the drivers, Matthew Torres, 33, of Philadelphia, attempted to enter the other driver’s vehicle and began assaulting him. The victim deployed pepper spray in an attempt to defend himself but was still struck multiple times during the altercation, according to police.
Torres was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. He was transported to police headquarters for processing and later released pending a mandatory court appearance.
