Tractor-trailer hauling hydraulic mulch catches fire on I-78 in Hunterdon County, driver injured
BETHLEHEM TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — A tractor-trailer fire left a driver with minor injuries Tuesday on Interstate 78 in Hunterdon County, according to New Jersey State Police.
Troopers responded at 10:46 a.m. to a vehicle fire on I-78 east near milepost 10.4 in Bethlehem Township, State Police spokesman Trooper II Christopher Postorino said.
Upon arrival, troopers found a tractor-trailer fully engulfed in flames. The fire was extinguished, and the driver was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.
Police said the tractor-trailer was hauling hydraulic mulch, which caught fire and caused significant closures to the center and right lanes of I-78 east.
