TRENTON, N.J. — The New Jersey Department of Agriculture is accepting applications for the 2026 U.S. Department of Agriculture Specialty Crop Block Grant Program, offering funding to support projects that promote agricultural products across the state.
The program provides federal grant funding for organizations representing multiple producers of specialty crops, which include fruits, vegetables, tree nuts, horticulture, nursery crops and floriculture. Officials said most of New Jersey’s agricultural industry falls within the specialty crop category.
“The New Jersey Department of Agriculture is once again excited to extend this grant opportunity to our specialty crop producers and organizations”, said Ed Wengryn NJ Secretary of Agriculture. “The Department sees the value of these federal dollars being directed to and used by the variety of specialty crops we raise here in NJ.”
Eligible projects must enhance the competitiveness of specialty crops and may focus on areas such as research, marketing, food safety, nutrition, trade, innovation and environmental conservation. Applicants are encouraged to collaborate with other organizations when applying.
Applications are due by 5 p.m. May 14. Officials noted that publishing the request for proposals does not guarantee that funding will be awarded.
