ALDI to remove 44 more ingredients from private-label products by 2027

Grocery chain ALDI announced plans to eliminate an additional 44 ingredients from its private-label food, vitamin and supplement products by the end of 2027, expanding its efforts to simplify product formulations.

The company said the move includes removing select artificial preservatives, colors, flavors and sweeteners, bringing the total number of eliminated ingredients across its private-label portfolio to 57.

ALDI began updating its ingredient standards more than a decade ago, including removing certified synthetic colors from its exclusive products in 2015. Officials said all ALDI-exclusive products must meet the company’s sourcing, testing and ingredient standards.

“At the heart of our private label products is a commitment to listening to our customers and continually improving the products they bring into their homes,” said Scott Patton, Chief Commercial Officer, ALDI. “Based directly on customer feedback, we are proud to take meaningful steps to make it even easier for families to fill their carts with confidence by delivering simpler ingredients while continuing to provide the quality and value they expect from ALDI.”
