Motorcyclist killed in Route 206 crash in Morris County

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A 23-year-old Pennsylvania man was killed Monday night in a motorcycle crash on Route 206 in the Flanders section of Mount Olive Township, authorities said.

Police said the crash was reported around 9:26 p.m. May 4, when the Mount Olive Police Communications Center received multiple 911 calls about an accident on Route 206.

A preliminary investigation found the motorcyclist, a man from Cresco, Pennsylvania, was traveling north between Oakwood Village and the intersection of Chestnut Way when the motorcycle left the roadway and crashed into a wooded area.

The rider was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the crash, police said. His identity was not released.

The Mount Olive Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Flanders Fire Department, Budd Lake Fire Department, Flanders EMS, Budd Lake First Aid Squad and St. Clare’s paramedics.

The crash remains under investigation by the Mount Olive Police Investigations Unit and Traffic Unit, with assistance from the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Section.
