Magnitude 1.8 earthquake rattles parts of N.J.

NEW JERSEY — A small earthquake was recorded Tuesday afternoon west of Gladstone, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The USGS reported the magnitude 1.8 earthquake occurred at 1:30 p.m. at a depth of about 5 kilometers, or roughly 3.1 miles.

According to the agency, the epicenter was located about 5 kilometers west of Gladstone.

As of 2:30 p.m., 26 people had reported feeling the earthquake through the USGS “Did You Feel It?” reporting system.

No injuries or damage were immediately reported.
