“Little Women” musical to open summer season at Roxbury Arts Alliance
ROXBURY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — The Roxbury Arts Alliance will kick off its summer theater season later this month with a production of “Little Women, The Broadway Musical” at the Citizens Bank Theater in Succasunna.
Based on Louisa May Alcott’s classic 1868 novel, the musical will run for four performances beginning May 30 and feature the story of the March sisters as they navigate family, ambition, love and loss during the Civil War era.
The production includes a Tony Award-nominated score and follows sisters Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy March as they come of age in New England while their father serves in the war.
The cast features Natalie Crespolini as Jo, Sarah Kowalcheck as Meg, Kayla Del Valle as Beth and Cailin Brennan as Amy. Hilary Beirne portrays Marmee, while Jennylind Parris plays Aunt March.
Additional cast members include Scott McKinley as Mr. Lawrence, Matthew North as Laurie Lawrence, Hunter Chung as Mr. Brooke, Victoria Romero as Clarissa and Alex Maron as Professor Bhaer.
Organizers said the production explores themes of sisterhood, sacrifice, independence and family bonds while bringing one of literature’s most enduring stories to the stage.
The Roxbury Arts Alliance, a nonprofit arts organization, said the show is intended to appeal to longtime fans of the novel as well as younger audience members experiencing the story for the first time.
Performances are scheduled for May 30 and June 6 at 7:30 p.m. and May 31 and June 7 at 3 p.m.
Tickets are $25 for general admission and $15 for students. Tickets can be purchased online through the Roxbury Arts Alliance website or by calling 973-945-0284.
All performances will be held at the Citizens Bank Theater inside the Horseshoe Lake Municipal Complex at 72 Eyland Ave. in Succasunna.
