St. Luke’s expands specialty care with addition of ENT, allergy and asthma practices

PENNSYLVANIA — St. Luke’s University Health Network has expanded its specialty care services with the addition of two longtime independent practices specializing in ear, nose and throat care and allergy and asthma treatment.

Effective July 1, Specialty Physician Associates and the Center for Allergy & Asthma Care joined the health network and now operate as St. Luke’s Ears, Nose & Throat and St. Luke’s Allergy, Asthma & Immunology.

The addition brings more than 30 providers and 10 locations into the St. Luke’s network, expanding access to specialty care throughout the Lehigh Valley, including locations in Quakertown and Wind Gap.

“This is exciting news for St. Luke’s,” said Scott Siegfried, vice president of the Specialty Care Division of St. Luke’s Physician Group. “These organizations have always been close partners, so to officially welcome them into the family will only enhance the care we provide to patients.”

St. Luke’s officials said the move strengthens the health network’s ability to provide coordinated specialty care closer to home while meeting growing demand across the region.

David Yen, M.D., an otolaryngologist and head and neck surgeon, said the practices have worked closely with St. Luke’s for many years and chose to join the health network because of its integrated system and collaborative approach to patient care.

“I am excited for the opportunity to grow alongside St. Luke’s,” Yen said. “As a longtime partner, I’ve enjoyed everything about St. Luke’s, and now this enables us to provide care to our patients across a broader network of physicians. This decision was made with our patients in mind, and we believe it will only enhance the care we provide to them.”

Shannon Kearney, D.O., an allergy, asthma and immunology physician, described St. Luke’s as a “well-oiled machine.” She also said the health network “really feels like home” and that she would not have joined another hospital system.

“I’ve always valued St. Luke’s commitment to high-quality, compassionate care,” Kearney said.

Michael Ciliberti, M.D., an allergist, also welcomed the transition.

“We are so happy to be joining the St. Luke’s family, because that’s what it is,” Ciliberti said. “Everyone in the office feels the same way.”

St. Luke’s officials said the expansion is particularly important in the Lehigh Valley, which experiences some of the highest seasonal allergy rates in the country.

“With the legacy and reputation of these organizations, and the strength and stability of St. Luke’s, both areas will continue to grow and support the needs of our communities,” Siegfried said.

St. Luke’s Ear, Nose & Throat will operate locations in Bethlehem, Allentown, Quakertown and Wind Gap, while St. Luke’s Allergy, Asthma & Immunology will have offices in Bethlehem, Allentown, Easton, Quakertown and Wind Gap. A complete list of office locations and contact information is available on the St. Luke’s website.
