Man charged after alleged threats, $20K in damage at Morris County hospital

DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Jefferson man is facing multiple charges after allegedly threatening healthcare workers and causing approximately $20,000 in damage at Saint Clare’s Hospital in Denville Township, according to police.

Police said officers responded to the hospital at approximately 11:37 a.m. May 24 for a report of a disorderly patient.

During the investigation, officers identified the suspect as Alex J. DeGraw, 26, of Jefferson Township.

Police said DeGraw allegedly threatened multiple healthcare workers and caused significant property damage inside the facility.

DeGraw was charged with one count of criminal mischief, two counts of terroristic threats and three counts of endangering another person.

Police said DeGraw was issued the charges and released pending a mandatory appearance in Morris County Superior Court.
