Lane restrictions planned next week on Easton-Phillipsburg “free bridge”

Motorists traveling across the Northampton Street Toll-Supported Bridge, commonly known as the Easton-Phillipsburg “free bridge,” should expect daytime lane restrictions next week as crews conduct routine inspections.

The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission announced that the bridge will be reduced to a single lane in each direction from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, June 1, through Thursday, June 4.

The temporary traffic pattern will leave two of the bridge’s three travel lanes open while crews perform biennial inspections of the structure.

Officials said the inspections are part of ongoing efforts to monitor the condition and safety of the bridge.

Motorists are advised to reduce speeds and use caution while traveling through the work zone.

Travel delays are not anticipated, according to the bridge commission.

The schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions, emergencies or other unforeseen circumstances.
