Commissioner Van Doren honors Hunterdon Polytech seniors at awards ceremony

RARITAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Hunterdon County Commissioner Shaun Van Doren joined school officials, educators, families and students May 26 to celebrate the achievements of the Hunterdon County Polytech Academies Class of 2026 during the Senior Awards Ceremony at Voorhees High School.

Van Doren attended the ceremony alongside Superintendent Todd Bonsall and members of the Hunterdon County Vocational Board of Education, recognizing graduating seniors and academy award recipients for their academic achievement, leadership and dedication throughout their time at Polytech.

During the ceremony, Van Doren spoke about the importance of vocational education and the role Hunterdon County Polytech plays in preparing students for careers, higher education and technical fields.

“The accomplishments of this graduating class are truly remarkable,” said Commissioner Van Doren. “These students have demonstrated dedication, perseverance, and a commitment to excellence both inside and outside the classroom. Hunterdon County is proud to support educational programs that prepare students with the skills, knowledge, and hands-on experiences needed to succeed in today’s workforce and beyond.”

According to county officials, nearly 70 graduates collectively earned approximately 520 college credits before graduating from high school. The Class of 2026 also earned an estimated $1.5 million in scholarships.

Officials said approximately 99% of graduates plan to continue their education through four-year and two-year colleges, military academies, technical schools or other post-secondary pathways.

Van Doren also highlighted the county’s continued support for vocational and technical education, including efforts to expand full-time vocational programming in Hunterdon County.

“As a Board, we are proud to support the Hunterdon County Vocational School District and its commitment to preparing students for successful futures,” Commissioner Van Doren said. “Strong vocational education helps build the workforce, innovators, and industry leaders of tomorrow right here in Hunterdon County.”

The Senior Awards Ceremony recognized outstanding achievement across Polytech’s academy programs and celebrated the efforts of students, educators, mentors and families who contributed to the success of the graduating class.

Van Doren congratulated the graduates and award recipients and wished them continued success as they pursue future educational and career opportunities.
